Picture this, you’re almost through the month, you were pretty well ‘behaved’ with a few #whoopsmoments in between... Buuuut now you’re back at the office and you can’t quit the constant snacking- What’s up with that?! We’ve all been there but you can’t lose sight of your goals when you’re so darn close!
SO to help you out (and us), we’ve compiled a list of our top craving-coping hacks to get you through your 9-5 without breaking your goals!
EAT THE RIGHT STUFF
Before we can focus on what to do when you have cravings, we need to ensure we've actually fuelled our body with what it needs (make sure it's actually cravings vs hunger)! There’s many potential reasons for having cravings, but the biggest reason is that you’re still hungry! For this we suggest focusing on eating more of the ‘good stuff’ that’s healthy and fills you up. This would especially be foods that are high in protein and high in fibre.
GET YOUR BACKUP
Cravings happen, and if you’re already eating the right things (see step #1) you might need a little boost, which is where we come in! Our Flat Tummy Lollipops are designed to help control hunger between meals, and they’re only 35 cals per pop. So with 1-2 pops per day, getting your cravings in-check shouldn’t be an issue. Just have one when you start to feel a little peckish, to hold you over until your next meal!
SLEEP IT OFF
We hate to be the one to tell you this, but not getting enough sleep will negatively affect your appetite, and lead to increased cravings. Many studies have shown that sleep (and getting enough of it) is one of the biggest things we neglect when it comes to fitness, healthy eating, and weight loss. Just because YOU’RE getting used to only 5 hours, it doesn’t mean your body is okay with it. Turn off the light, put social media away and get some zzzz's.
If you’re looking for a surefire way to curb your cravings during the day, drink a tall glass of room temperature water, and wait 5 minutes. Cravings might not totally disappear, but they should definitely be small enough to ignore. Thirst is most often confused with food cravings, or hunger, so we definitely suggest upping that water intake on the daily- it’ll only help in your efforts!
PLAN YOUR MEALS
Lastly, and we can’t stress this one enough- plan your meals ahead of time! Using all of the steps above, and Flat Tummy App’s Meal Planning guide, you have zero excuses. It may seem tedious at first, but it’s really not that much more effort for heaps of reward! Planning in advance makes sure you’re getting the macronutrients your body needs to be at its sharpest. It also ensures you’re not going for fast-food options, or skipping meals, which we all know where that leads!
