I thought the key to building muscle was simply lifting heavy weights, oh how wrong I was! What I didn’t realize is that our bodies thrive on food. Food is our fuel—it gives us the energy we need to power through every workout and every day.
But here’s the thing: if your goal is to build muscle and lose weight, it’s not just about any food. It’s about the right food. For me, I quickly realized that protein was something I was seriously lacking in my diet. And let me tell you, I felt it.
So, I started experimenting with ways to incorporate more protein into my daily meals—discovering what worked best for my body. But here’s the thing: everyone is different. What works for one person might not work for you. Below are the foods I always perceived as 'high in protein' stacked up against one another. Although some options were high in protein, they came with a high calories count too. With weight loss being part of my goal, I needed to stay in a calorie deficit, so looking at both metrics were important.
