10 Things We Hate About Bloat - No. 4

4. "No, I'm not pregnant."

My name’s Bree, and I just turned 30! It’s ok, I can admit it! But with age comes a lot of expectations from the people around you! The main expectation? One word… babies. Now I love babies, and sure I want some of my own one day, but that doesn’t mean I want everyone to think I'm always pregnant. And this is exactly why I think bloat is such a bitch!

When that bloat hits, and it happens to coincide with an event, I find myself agonizing over what to wear so people don’t start asking me (or each other!) if I have a bun in the oven. Like.. no, I’m not pregnant! And to be honest, it’s actually really frustrating not to mention sometimes a little bit embarrassing. Not being able to wear your favourite dress because you’re self conscious of that little belly sucks, especially when you want to look fabulous!

So I decided I needed to do something about it! I started eating healthier, which sounds a bit naff I know, but in all seriousness, I started eating healthier, rather than less. I always used to be one of those girls that used to think that I had to completely cut out carbs, milk and certain fruits and vegetables if I wanted to get rid of bloating and lose a bit of weight.

Well that’s kinda wrong. Obviously cutting BACK is going to help, but I didn’t have to completely cut them OUT. Those foods are important and you need them, especially if you want the energy to kick bloat’s ass!

I found a great meal plan that worked for my body and still allowed me to eat enough so that I wasn't hungry all the time, plus I got to eat a massive variety of foods, including carbs! It’s all about moderation, and balance is the most important thing. I also cut back on fizzy drinks and junk food (well… with the exception of those few 3am McDonalds feasts #whoops).

But I still needed an extra boost, something to really kick start my battle against the bloat. I found Flat Tummy Tea on Instagram, (before I actually even started working there), and I thought, why not?! I’ve tried everything else! I am not really a tea drinker so I was surprised I enjoyed it so much, and even more surprised that I didn’t miss my morning coffee. And for anyone that knows me, that is a freaking huge deal!  And… yeah, that was that!

So now when I go out I can feel good about myself and not worry about people whispering in the corner, wondering when I will make the Facebook announcement! I’m not pregnant… yet. But when I am, you’ll be the first to know!
