7 Tips to get to where you want to be!
Okay, so one thing we are all guilty of sometimes is comparing ourselves to the Miranda Kerr’s of this world, you know, the beautiful, tall, fit models who we all admire! Reality is, we don’t all look like that but that’s not going to stop us!
At the end of the day, the fact is that nobody is flawless, whether it is on the outside or on the inside. It’s time to change your mindset and focus on becoming the woman we want to be.
So, want to rock your own world? These 7 steps show you how:
Step 1- APPRECIATE:
Rather than emphasising everything you don't like about yourself, stop and appreciate the best things about you (your long locks, that sexy pout or your can’t-hold-me-back attitude). Every morning before you head off into the big world, tell yourself why you are going to smash it today. Trust me, you will feel motivated, work harder and still have energy to finish the day with a hardcore workout.
Step 2- MY LIFE, MY CHOICE:
Do what floats your boat! If you feel you want to improve in a particular area, set yourself an attainable goal doing and go for it. There’s nothing better than the sense of achievement and ticking something off the “to do” list! Whatever the goal, go in to it committed and you will see results. It’s about you so take charge!
Step 3- ACHIEVEMENTS:
What are you doing today that you couldn’t have done five, three, or even one year ago? The definition of an achievement is “a thing done successfully with effort, skill, or courage.” No matter how small the achievement is, you still did it! Perfected the eyeliner wing? Take a selfie and show the girls. Complete a marathon? Go out and celebrate. Know what you want, do it and be proud.
Step 4- SPOIL YOURSELF:
Wear a great outfit! Choose clothes that are comfortable, fit you and accentuate your figure. Make the best of your “assets,” no matter what they are. Got great pins? Throw on your fave heels and show them off. Throwing on a baggy top when you’re feeling bloated is giving in to it. The Flat Tummy Girl beats her bloat, she doesn’t cover it up. So spoil yourself - the term “retail therapy” wasn’t invented for no reason.
Step 5- CHOOSE INFLUENCES CAREFULLY:
Ask yourself “Do my influences support where I want to go with my life? Are they holding me back?” From the magazines we flip through, the Instagram pages we follow and the people we surround ourselves with, these all have a massive impact on our self-image and our outlook on life. You have goals to achieve and you don’t need others holding you back. So change the magazines you read, focus on information rather than fiction and call up the girls who inspire you and push you and make you forget to check your phone for hours… Friendship is not about quantity, it’s about quality.
Step 6- GET INSPIRED BY A ROLE MODEL:
If you stop and consider who most influences you now and why, you’ll no doubt agree that the people you admire now are giving you your most important life lessons. I decided I deserved more than one role model a long time ago as I felt like different people suited different aspects of my life. Successful woman like Lorna Jane and Natasha Oakley are choices of mine. Yes, they are both drop dead gorgeous but also classy, smart and they portray positive messages to motivate me to take care of my body!
Step 7- EXERCISE:
Getting fit and healthy will help you develop a healthy relationship between your mind and body and keep you focused on what it is you want in life. Plus, the rush of endorphins that make you more positive and energised won't hurt! Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day and do what works for you. Be stubborn about your workout goals, but flexible about your methods. We find a long run by the beach helps keep us fit and clears our heads of all worries and lets us stay focused on our goals.
So girls, confront your insecurities, you’re too good for them. Using these 7 tips every day will keep you on track, keep you focused and get you to where you want to be!
